  • Dpf delete

hi there I have a quick question I am planning on doing a dpf delete on my ds3 ehdi 90 if I was to hollow out the dpf then not get it mapped for a week or two apart from the excess smoke would it put the car into limp mode and would it be okay to drive it for that short term

will sound like a tractor with a bag of wheelnuts inside it

emissions sensors may kick up error codes and warnings

the 2 DS3 (5 yr ago) Ive seen with DPF removed sounded like a bag of nuts in a sore throat, and smoked like burning car tyres (Trying to think of more metaphors)

Isnt DPF delete an MOT failure anyways?

Yep Chris_Blue, part of the new MOT rules state that any evidence of a tampered DPF or removed DPF is an automatic fail.

                Here are the changes:

                https://www.gov.uk/government/news/m...es-20-may-2018

Still if you're savvy and good enough to remove it, then put it back on again before the MOT and it doesn't get noticed, then it could still pass. It's not a risk I'd take personally.

dpf done properly an mot station will not notice, mapped right no reason to give off extra smoke, engine wont sound like a tractor bigger injectors without adjusting the injector timing yes should sound the same if not a bit deeper, there is a turbo in the way stopping any combustion noises the sound of a tractor comes from fuel injection timing and fuel pressure.

Surely the dpf delete will be very obvious as the new MOT rules clearly state:

"finds evidence that the DPF has been tampered with"

Any MOT station/garage worth it's salt will be hot on checking them and from what I understand its quite easy to spot.

If you have a good and trusted tester that will turn a blind eye, then all good, but, as I've said, it's not a risk I'd be willing to take.

Good shout mate. Surely the emissions will increase and cause a fail that way??

Well that's what I would think. Unless even with DPF removal and a good map, the emissions don't increase above the thresholds?

Cant see that, as the DPF is exactly that- a particulate filter.

Still- OP must know what he/ she doing
